Traffix Devices, the manufacturer of the Scorpion attenuator that J-Tech Highway Safety sells and supports recently held a comprehensive training sessions at J-Tech’s Chester Springs, Pennsylvania campus.
Over the last year and a half Traffix Devices has been implementing a nationwide inspection and certification program for Scorpion truck mounted attenuators. They call this program their “CAP Program” which stands for “Certified Attenuator Program”.
“Our highway safety division has made a significant investment into being the premier service center for Scorpion attenuators,” says Jason Rohrer, Vice President at J-Tech. “Not only do we produce new turn key attenuator trucks but we repair them after they have done their job to protect highway workers.”
After a scorpion attenuator has been impacted it needs to be returned to J-Tech for a post impact inspection. This a rigorous process that measures, documents and submits the analysis back to the Traffix Devices engineering team. Detailed direction is then provided on the necessary repairs and J-Tech completes them in a state-of-the-art repair service center.
Only after often intensive repairs are complete will Traffix Devices issue a letter that states the unit has been repaired and is authorized to be put back into service and at this time a new inspection sticker is placed on the unit. Also under this new program all trailer and truck mounted scorpion attenuators must be inspected annually by a CAP service center. This process helps ensure that each unit out in service is able to provide additional safety for highway workers.
The two-day training session ensured that all capable J-Tech Highway Safety employees are well versed in the process as they bring their serious level of combined capability to each attenuator repair.
