J-Tech designed and engineered the LaneBlade® with one thing in mind—Safety. Since its debut in May of 2020, over 30 agencies across the United States and Canada have trusted the LaneBlade® to keep highways clear of dangerous debris and reduce the incident risks for travelers and highway workers.
Technologically advanced in-cab operator’s controls and the Patent Pending articulating wing design of the LaneBlade® ensure safe capture, control and removal of nearly any size highway debris—and even disabled vehicles—from active travel lanes without putting roadway crews at risk.
— LANEBLADE® ENGINEERING & DESIGN
Designed, perfected and manufactured by J-Tech, a nationally recognized Pennsylvania Small Business that meets the criteria for the Buy America Act (BAA).
While the design and resulting fabrication was perfected and tested by J-Tech engineering, the LaneBlade® design, features, hardware, software, and functionality has also undergone a vigorous third party assessment process that validated the original design and the function and safety of the LaneBlade®.
The LaneBlade®'s origin story begins with a major tollway approaching J-Tech to develop a device unlike any other on the market that would meet 5 core requirements: durability, functionality, applicability to needs, operator safety, and road user safety. Over the course of a 2-year span those 5 requirements were evaluated and tested using 3 LaneBlade® prototypes operating in 3 unique environments. The final pilot assessment resulted in the purchase of 29 LaneBlade® devices with plans to equip an entire feet of Safety Service Patrol vehicles.
— LANEBLADE® MANUFACTURE / INSTALLATION & SUPPORT
The LaneBlade® is cleverly engineered with all the mechanical and hydraulic components mounted within the device, so it is fully assembled and crated for shipment to you. The LaneBlade® can be easily installed at your location by your shop, by J-Tech, or a 3rd party mechanic of your choice.
Complete units are manufactured in our Pennsylvania facility, in stock and ready to ship for fast integration into your fleet. These are not “one-off” fabricated devices. LaneBlades® are manufactured with quality components backed by J-Tech’s warranty.
A 40-page Owner’s Manual, quick-access “In-Cab Safety Sheet”, Installation Manual, Troubleshooting Guide, Parts Manual, and Warranty are provided with the purchased LaneBlade® “kit”. Digital manuals are QR code accessible (via decal on the unit) on the LaneBlade.com website.
The J-Tech team is standing by for any and all LaneBlade® questions concerning installation, orientation, replacement parts, or technical support. Additional resources include virtual or in-person safety orientations to prepare your team members for operating the LaneBlade®.
— LANEBLADE® PATENTED FEATURES & TECHNOLOGY
Designed, tested, and rated by J-Tech to handle debris weighing up to 150 lbs. while pushing debris at 20 mph. No other device is rated to handle this category of debris.
Unlike other devices that can ricochet and spray debris, the LaneBlade® deployment speed limiter assures that the operator will slow down to 20 mph before deploying the LaneBlade® and contacting debris on your roadways to reduce or eliminate ricochet that could endanger other road users.
The LaneBlade® was built from the ground up as a multi-purpose tool for responding to a multitude of debris and disabled vehicle incidents.
The LaneBlade®’s hydraulic float adapts to road surfaces—eliminating debris getting stuck in the gap or “ride-over” which can damage the host vehicles and pose additional danger to other road users.
The standard steel edge floats on the road surface to capture every piece of debris regardless of the size and an optional Küper GK5 rubber blade is available for a softer touch.
The LaneBlade® is the only device that provides one-touch deployment and debris monitoring via an in-cab touchscreen monitor—keeping the operator’s eyes on the captured debris.
Found only on the LaneBlade®, the large containment wings provide 70º of articulation which means NO spilling of debris to adjacent lanes and large, bulky, long, small or messy objects always remain under control when capturing and angling towards the shoulder.
11.625 square feet of contact area ensures efficient capture and containment of all size debris—always in control, always in front and never under the bumper. The large moldboard and wear edge design eliminate “ride over” of tire treads and other oddly shaped debris or objects.
—LANEBLADE® VALUE
No other device has been designed, engineered, tested and proven to consistently and efficiently clear highway debris as well as the LaneBlade®. Other devices, claiming similar benefits, with fixed “under bumper” mounting and without articulating wings fall short when it comes to capturing and controlling debris—either allowing some debris and tire treads to slip under the device and cause dangerous “ride-over” or scattering the debris without full control—adding more potential dangers to the roadway. And lets face it, traditional push bumpers are, well, just push bumpers.
J-Tech’s patented LaneBlade® provides a great value for your well spent money.
