How would you describe the J-Tech company culture?
J-Tech has a moral compass that we follow. I personally have a strong faith and belief system that guides me. We have a diverse work force and our team members have a wide range of beliefs that may or may not align with mine. However, the beliefs that must align are being honest, respectful, dependable and straightforward when dealing with our customers, vendors and fellow team members.
What’s the best thing about working at J-Tech?
I can think of a couple of examples. I very much enjoy learning new things and working though challenges. Starting a new company from scratch has fed that part of my personality. My wife Tracey and I started the company in 1993 and we have enjoyed building the J-Tech team and hopefully have had positive impact on their lives.
What makes J-Tech unique?
Many things, but there are three that stand out to me. First, the excellent reputation we have built with our customers and vendors. Second, the caliber of people we have been able to attract and retain and third, the niche business markets we have successfully developed.
Why was J-Tech originally created?
We started J-Tech as a machine shop designed to rebuild the valves and vents that are mounted on tank trailers.
In your opinion, what is the five-year vision for J-Tech?
Continuing to be the leader in all the markets we serve, along with continued growth and profitability in all of our divisions. I believe our fair and honest business practices paired with building excellent relationships will allow us to accomplish this goal.
What separates J-Tech from the competition?
Our team members really stand out to me. Their knowledge, loyalty and creativity are amazing. J-Tech only represents the most respected manufacturers in the industries we serve. Also, our ability to solve our customers' problems with dependable service, new products and processes stand out. J-Tech's longevity and staying power is also very important.
Why would customers choose J-Tech over others?
A reputation of strong, honest and fair business practices for over 26 years. A history of building customers for life—not just one sale. Also, providing predictable, dependable and repeatable products and services in all the areas we serve.
What are your hobbies? What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I hate to admit it, but starting, growing and sustaining J-Tech is almost a 24/7 job and it seems that I am always thinking about work. However, at this stage in my life my favorite hobby is by far hanging with our 5 married, or soon to be married, kids and growing list of grand-kids.
If you weren’t working at J-Tech what would you be doing? What is your dream job?
Large-scale farmer.
