Cut your overhead costs and improve your TMA's ROI with these 3 steps.

1. Do Monthly Maintenance Checks on your Scorpion

Many expensive part replacements can be avoided with regular maintenance such as checking hydraulic fluid or grease fittings. See 10 Ways to Extend the Life of Your Scorpion here.

2. Avoid Idling the Truck

Either make sure your drivers are turning them off or if the truck needs to stay on for the warning lights, then use our Solar APU to power the lights while keeping the truck off.

3. Do a Quick DOT/MUTCD Light Check

Make sure you have:

  • 360-degree amber warning light visibility (bulkhead mounted beacons can get knocked off by tree limbs, etc.)
  • Check marker lights on the Scorpion (these also frequently get knocked off)
  • Check taillights – especially on the end of the Scorpion as those taillights often get knocked off or stepped on, etc.

Quick checks and easy repairs can prevent serious injury from improperly illumination or DOT fines.

Nothing revolutionary here but implementation is the trick. You can print these steps and add it to your fleet maintenance checklist or go over them in your next driver briefing.

Just like J-Tech Attenuator Trucks, TrafFix Scorpion Attenuators are built to last for decades in tough highway environments. Knowing what to look for can help you catch problems early and prevent catastrophic damage down the road.
